Fela only infrequently employed outside producers on his albums. Sometimes the results were good: EMI producer Jeff Jarrett’s Afrodisiac (1973); Ginger Baker’s psychedelia-tinged He Miss Road (1975); keyboardist Wally Badarou’s Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense (1986). On another occasion it was spectacularly bad: Bill Laswell’s overdubbing and mix of Army Arrangement (1985). Dennis Bovell's Live In Amsterdam is one of the good “outside” productions, with excellent sound and given plenty of bottom by the bass-playing British dub jedi. Standout track by a short margin is “M.O.P. Movement Of The People.” Originally released by EMI UK.
