**With Fela in jail and unable to record, EMI cancels his contract. US label Celluloid strike a deal with Fela’s management and begin reissuing his back catalogue. The label also releases a new album, Army Arrangement, which their house producer, avant-rock bassist Bill Laswell remixes, with disastrous results. When Fela hears Laswell’s mix, he says listening to it is “worse than being in jail.” Fela’s original mix is released in Nigeria on his Kalakuta label.
